The Nevada Supreme Court is scheduling hearings on a Foreclosure Mediation Program for which it is drafting rules. Justice Hardesty estimates the statewide program could see from 1,200 to 1,500 mediations per month. The number reflects an 18% foreclosure rate in Washoe County (Reno area) [RGJ] and one in every 22 homes in the Las Vegas metropolitan area facing foreclosure proceedings. [CNN]
It could possibly be a good idea for Representative John Boehner (R-OH) to have his staff procure (a) a calendar; (b) a dvd/video tape player; and (c) a notepad before “launching a major attack” on the Obama Administration for “mirandizing terrorists. [Plum Line] Using these items would allow Rep. Boehner to discover that (a) rights have been read in specific cases, but there have been no blanket instructions; (b) according to General David Petraeus, the Weekly Standard rumor was false, “The real rumor yesterday is whether our forces were reading Miranda rights to detainees captured in Afghanistan and the answer to that is no.” [Wash Indy] and (c) that the Bush Administration initiated the process when sending in FBI “clean teams” to re-interrogate detainees as reported by the Washington Post on February 12, 2008. [HuffPo] [AL] Suppose this will make Rep. Boehner cry or throw things on the floor again?
